It's an easy enough
question I suppose, but it's probably not for the reasons
you were expecting.
We are a small group of
isolated adventure game enthusiasts, we weren’t part of the
big online Spectrum scene...well, one of us is...
apparently, and we never subscribed to any fanzines or clubs
and before setting out on this adventure of our own, we were
blissfully unaware of the Interactive Fiction scene in its
entirety, and unsurprisingly, now realize exactly how much
we have missed out on. ( Example, We just discovered 'Adventure
Probe' only to learn they are about to call it a day!
Denied!
One night over an
exceptionally long game of Dungeons and Dragons we got to
talking about Adventure games, only to discover that we all
shared a passion for text adventures, and not just any old
text adventures, but games that had been written on the
Sinclair ZX Spectrum home computer. Needless to say the
nostalgia juices got flowing, one thing led to another and
out of the cauldron of creation came the idea to do our own,
fun fanzine reminiscing about the good old days of Spectrum
adventuring. And thus SAGE was born.
Truth be known, it
almost died there, had it not been for a nagging nascence
called Melissa who just wouldn't let it lie and kept pushing
and pushing and pushing until we all agreed that we would
give it a go...
To be continued...
